legwarmers

She’s Got Legs …

… handspun legwarmers, that is.

This is another of my projects that is long overdue for some pictures.  The wool is Wensleydale in “Headache” colorway by Spunky Eclectic and for those of you who have never tried spinning Wensleydale, you MUST give it a try.  The wool has a beautiful luster and slips through your fingers very much like mohair and the knitted fabric is oh so divine!

The fiber was spun up fingering weight and I knit the legwarmers very much the way you knit sleeves for sweaters.  I worked 1″ of ribbing and then gradually increased up to the widest point in my calf , decreased several stitches and finished with another inch of ribbing.  Easy peasy but very comfy!  I got a lot of wear out of these this winter and who doesn’t want to spice up their winter wardrobe with a splash of unexpected color?

New Free Knitting Pattern – Rainbow Legwarmers

Pippi Longstockings

I’ve been on a roll lately with the free patterns and I wanted to add another one to my site for you all to enjoy.  These super fun and funky legwarmers are my FAVORITE new accessory. The pattern directions include tips for both spinning your own yarn for this project as well as knitting the legwarmers with a commercially available yarn. They are super simplistic and knit up very fast as they are worked in worsted weight yarn and with 4.0mm needles.
Not a spinner? No prob! The legwarmers look BE-U-T-FUL worked in Noro Kureyon.

You can dowload your copy of the pattern below by clicking on the image or by viewing my Free Patterns page at the top of my site.

Happy holidays and happy knitting!
