I had a discussion with a fellow spinning friend a few days ago about our favourite spinning fibres and we both agreed that hand dyed, mixed BFL is probably one of the prettiest spins out there (in our opinion). We adore how well the dye takes to it as well as the depth the natural color variations of the wool add to the colorway. Plus, it is such a silky spin, producing yarn with lovely hand and drape. And …. in case you were wondering, yes! This week’s spin-in-progress is some divine mixed BFL
This lovely bump of fibre pictured about is the April club offering from Spunky Eclectic. The colorway is called “You Are My Sunshine” and it is just so pretty and, well, sunny! I chose to spin the top tip to tail and am planning to chain-ply it. I seem to go in cycles in how I chose to spin my club fibres … fractal, textured, chain-ply, singles … It is good to have options 😉
In other news, last week we have some lovely sunny days and with that sunshine came some seeds popping up. I’ve got radishes, beets, spinach, salad mix, and more sprouting up in the garden. I’m so happy to see these little seedlings making their appearance and I look forward to eating them them in future.
We’ve also been continuing to forage and have been enjoying fresh dandelion greens daily. Our favourite ways to eat them are in smoothies or sautéed with mushrooms and garlic and topped off with a soft poached egg. Yum! Today, we’ll be gathering spruce tips for homemade cough syrup and, of course, a few to snack on too.
Happy Wednesday all!
