Amanita muscaria, also known as Fly Agaric, are one of my favourite mushrooms to photograph (and knit!). They look like the perfect resting place for fairies and are frequently seen in Brian Froud’s works (I adore his artwork!).
While the Fly Agaric around here only appear in a peachy/orange color, I decided to go with the iconic crimson for this hat. I’m using a variety of handspun and mill spun yarns in a wide assortment of fibres to make this fuzzy little knitted confection. So fa far I have used some Merino, Alpaca, Angora, and Qiviut and the crown will feature a sun/star in BFL and Kent Romney. Some of my favourite fibres 🙂
Hope you’re all having a wonderful week so far and that you find some time for craft.
Happy Wednesday all!
