Since I’m no longer taking custom orders for spinning or knitting, I get to spend more time working with the lovely fleeces that I have stored up. This particular sampling of chocolate brown locks came from Domino, a local sheep raised by my friends at Harmony Meadow Farm.
Part of the reason that I enjoy working with raw wool so much is that I get to slow down and enjoy each part of the process. I love getting to visit the farm and pick out the wool I’d like to take home, choose which locks to wash, card, and spin. I like the sense of connection to place that it brings and winter feels like the perfect time to savor the whole process from raw wool to finished yarn or project.
I’m choosing to spin these lovely locks as a nice two ply yarn. I already have one bobbin full and am working away on my second. I can’t wait to see the finished yarn!
Happy Wednesday all!
