WIP Wednesday – Sable Island Ear Flap Hat

IMG_0950Sometimes, a work-in-progress can look like a bit of a wreck while you’re working on it.  Such is the case, at least for me, with anything that has a provisional cast on because the edges roll and you see all those pieces of scrap yarn. Add in a work in progress that is also stranded colorwork and TA-DA! even more unsightly ends sticking out.  Today’s project is one of these but I assure you, it is shaping up really well, even if it does look a little messy right now.

I’ve taken my Sable Island hat pattern and decided to put a bit of a spin on it.  I’m still knitting it with the same size yarn and needles but I’ve decided to add in ear flaps, a provisional cast on so that I can neatly trim the hat with i-cord, and a different crown pattern.  I’m also contemplating a nice big pom pom for the top because I just can’t get enough of them.  I’m allllllmost finished and hope to have some photos to share with you in Friday’s post.

How is your week going so far?  Making anything new that might look like a bit of a wreck right now also?  I’d love to hear all about it.

Happy Wednesday all!
