Well, Autumn has officially arrived here in PEI. Frost in the mornings, the smell of wood smoke is in the air, and the leaves are all turning brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and red … my favourite time of year! With the change in the weather come thoughts of cozy woolies for some, or for a group of us hard-core wool fans out there, we’ve never really stopped thinking about wool 😉
This week, I’m sharing with you on of my most recent finished projects, a handspun Sable Island hat. The main color of the hat is handspun from a Bond/Silk blend in “Dragon Fruit” colorway by Southern Cross Fibre. The combed top was spun tip to tail and then chain plyed to preserve the long and graceful color changes. For the contrast color, I chose some really amazing, locally grown, Corriedale from Harmony Meadow Farms. This yarn is a real treat to knit with and I wish I had pounds and pounds of it to play with. If you ever find yourself in the Belfast area, I recommend you check out their farm and lovely goodies!
Are you thinking about woolly wears again? Knitting anything new and fun for Fall? Do tell!
