I took off for a walk early this morning in hopes of catching a sight of the lunar eclipse. It ended up being too cloudy to see it but it was such a lovely morning that I couldn’t help but to enjoy myself. It was one of those days where I feel bad for people still asleep because they are missing such beauty!
The wildlife were out in full force. Along the way, I passed a skunk, making sure to give him a wide berth, and when I reached the shore, I startled a coyote who took off into the grass. He must have been curious about me because he stayed around to observe for a little while … the tips of his ears just visible above the top of the grass. I kicked off my shoes and waded around in the water a bit (it was surprisingly warm for this time of year) and was treated to watching a seal swim and play. There was a also a hawk and some gulls wheeling around the skies.
So I may not have seen the lunar eclipse that I was hoping for but it was one of those mornings that feels magical. It was one of those mornings that restores your soul and makes you feel peaceful. We sometimes forget how much we need these quite moments when we are caught up with the hustle and bustle of life and I am immensely happy for making the time this morning for stillness and wonder.
