This beautiful braid of fiber has been sitting in my spinning basket, staring at me, since February but I just didn’t know what I wanted it to be. It is a 4oz bump of BFL hand dyed by Carolyn of Greenwood Fiberworks in the colorway “Sochi” which was, you guessed it, a colorway inspired by the Olympic games.
I needed something extra fun and special to show off the bright beautiful colors of this fiber and while I was peeking at Ravelry on the weekend, I found just the project. Nest (nestfibers on Ravelry) recently knit three of the most gorgeous infinity scarves from handspun that I’ve ever seen. The colors just POP! They are handspun versions of Chevron Delight Infinity Scarf and when I saw them I knew instantly what my bump of Sochi needed to be.
I set to work this afternoon on spinning my fiber. I split the fiber lengthwise once and am spinning it from tip to tail quite fine, with the intention of N-plying. Already, I have approximately an ounce spun and I’m really liking how it looks. If my handspun Chevron Delight turns out even half as nicely as nestfiber’s I will be very happy indeed!
