WIP Wednesday – Thrummed Mittens

IMG_4061Although we are enjoying a lovely mild spell right now, I’m hard at work making some cozy thrummed mittens for the inevitable cold snap that is to come.

Since the recipient of these mittens is a man who works outdoors, I’ve chosen some nice dark colors in the hope that the mittens will keep looking smart with wear.  I picked up both the wool and the yarn the last time I was out to Belfast Mini Mills.  It is REALLY hard to come from that store without adopting quite a lot of their gorgeous fiber and yarn!

I’m making the pattern up as I go along to match up with the sketch of his hand size so that they will fit his hands like a glove … er, mitten, I guess in this case.  :-D

What kind of crafty things are you up to, this fine Wednesday? Are you knitting warm woolly things to fend off the cold as well?  Do tell!

Happy New Year, Simone! I know I am late at checking emails… but wanted to say ‘hi’! Love your ‘thrummed mitts’! I have been trying my hand at Scandinavian stranded & twined slippers :-/ Got the concept down-now just need time to finish them (DH Christmas present ). Take care – still enjoy all of your inspiration!
