This is not my normal FO Friday post. Today, I’m sharing with you a sewing project. Yup, you read that right, a SEWING project.
Sewing is something that I’m really beginning to enjoy and it is another one of those things that I don’t do often enough. This morning, Judah and Willow wanted to try out some sewing so we set to work on what *might* eventually be catnip pillows for Bugsy. As for me, I wanted a fun new sewing project that I already had all the materials for and the also included a little bit of appliqué. I got hunting around on Craftsy and found Funky Little Owl Bag by Pattern Play Designs. It was exactly what I was looking for.
I set to work picking fabrics from my little stash and Willow suggested buttons for the eyes so we rooted through the button jar for just the right ones. The project came together really quickly and, while I have a lot to learn as far as appliqué goes, I’m pretty dang happy with how it turned out. The circles certainly aren’t perfect but they’re getting better each time I do them and when I eventually pick up a proper appliqué foot for my sewing machine, I’m sure that they will improve further.
Now, I think I’ll go back over my stash to pick out fabric for a second one. Hey! It’s Friday, why not?
