I know I really don’t need any more hats (my collection is borderline obscene!) but I just couldn’t resist this pattern. Knotted Pine takes virtually no time at all to knit up and I adore the crown. I’ve never seen the top of a hat worked this way and I just love it.
I used some of my own handpainted DK weight merino and 3.5 and 4.0mm needles and, because I opted not to use a cable needle, it worked up much more quickly for me. For anyone interested in cabling without a cable needle, Grumperina has a fantastic tutorial which you can check out here. Since it is so quick to make, I’m thinking this would make a perfect holiday gift for a couple of special people.
So what have you been crafting? Do you have any favorite patterns for gifting? Do tell!
