I have a special little friend that has been visiting me on an almost daily basis over the past couple of months … a very cute little Chickadee. I do quite a bit of knitting outdoors and I toss my yarn ends on the ground because the birds like to use them for nesting material and she started out by swiping them as soon as I set foot in the house. She gradually became braver and braver until she was gathering the yarn ends right off my desk in the kitchen while I was sitting there! Most days she just likes to perch and watch me work. So this Friday’s finished object is a tribute to her.
I used two different patterns as the basis for this hat. The Chickadee chart comes from the Chickadee Ski Hat by by Susan Anderson-Freed and the crown comes from Selbu Modern by Kate Gagnon Osborn. I chose to use some lovely DK weight merino and merino/samoyed yarns and 3.5mm needle to knit this hat so the charts had to be modified a bit so that the finished hat would be the correct size. I’m pretty happy with the finished hat and I believe that my Chickadee friend is as well!
Have you finished up any new projects this week? I’d love for you to share!
