There has been a fun SAL/KAL underway in the Spunky Eclectic ravelry group over the past three months … the Fine Romi Along. The object of the SAL/KAL is to spin a fine yarn, fingering weight or thinner, and to pair it up with one of Romi Hill’s fabulous patterns to create a unique and beautiful finished object. A whole lot of members have been hard at work spinning up Spunky fiber and knitting it into some of the most amazing and inspiring shawls. You can view some of these super inspiring projects by clicking here or by searching projects tagged with “fineromi”.
I had originally planned to knit the pattern “Carson” in the Spunky colorsways “Dijon” and “Pheasant” handspun but when I saw the three color version of Carson, I wanted to knit that even more! So I put aside the “Pheasant” for another project (sorry pretty yarn, it just isn’t your time to shine yet!) and decided to go with the original “Dijon” handspun as the main color. I then paired it up with “Firewoman” handspun from some really fantastic Norwegian wool I picked up from Northbound Knitting and a cheery orange sock yarn from Belfast Mini-Mills. The resulting shawl, I am hoping, will looks like a wonderful sunrise.
While I am still dealing with a very sore paw, it is well enough that I can pick away a little bit at my knitting. My progress is much slower than my usual pace but I am very grateful just to be knitting again. My favorite 3.75mm knitting needles, on the other hand, have had a little accident and the tips will have to be retired. I learned a very valuable lesson when it come to my WIPs … don’t leave your knitting on a chair because you might, just MIGHT, sit on it by mistake and break your favorite needles. lol
So what new and fun things are your working on? Doing any KALs or CALs? I’d love to hear all about it!
