Can you believe that it is Friday again already? Wow, time really seems to by flying! This week, I’m sharing another project from an adapted pattern …. a Mushrooms Hat.
From the first time I saw Mushroom Pulse Warmers by Adrian Bizilia, I knew that I wanted to knit it both as the pulse warmers that they were designed as, and also as a fun and funky hat. And since my stash of small bits and bobs of yarn is really growing, I figured now was the perfect time to make that hat!
Here’s the low down on my mods:
- For this project, I used three different colors of DK weight yarn and 3.5mm needles.
- I cast on 120 sts and worked 1″ of corrugated ribbing in the MC and CC#1 before moving on to the mushroom chart.
- I omitted the steek portion of the chart and worked the remaining 20 st repeat 6 times per round to completion.
- For the crown of the cap I used a lice pattern, decreasing 8 sts every second round until 18 sts remained. K3tog around (6 sts remaining) and then break yarn and sew in ends.
Now that I’ve knit the hat, I REALLY want to knit a pair of the pulse warmers. Plus, I’ll actually get to try my hand at steeking, which I’ve wanted to do for ages. I’m thinking that it will be the perfect project for learning on.
Happy Fiber Friday All!
