We had quite an exciting evening yesterday. It was my first time lighting up my fire hoop and I can honestly say that leading up to it I was a teensy bit nervous.

I had been practicing hard with my new hoop, getting used to the addition weight that the spines add, the bit of extra bounce to the hoop, and where to place my hands so they don’t touch the spines. I had been reading and re-reading about how to spin fire safely and made sure to have all the necessary safety measures in place. The one thing that I didn’t count on was the SOUND from the fire. There is a definite roar as the wicks light up and you spin it round. It was a truly wild experience!

We were lucky enough to have my friend George come over to take the kick-butt pictures posted above. Thank you so much George!

Once I got my first taste of fire spinning, I just had to do it some more. After several more spins, I’m feeling pretty darn comfortable and can’t wait to do it again. Who knows! Maybe I’ll do a little more tonight! :-D

I learned how to spin poi a while ago, but I never took the step to spinning fire. I was worried about loosing all my hair! :P

Congratulations on a successful fire spin!

Pretty amazing! Braver than I. Our niece and her DH have done this for quite as few years, and it’s always a kick to watch them…and ya, the sound of the fire swoshing by. Keep spinning those flames!
ps. your “normal” spinning has been just beautiful! Very inspiring :-) someday….
    Take care! Watch those flames….
