My neighbour and I hit Beck Trail early this morning for some snowshoeing fun. The last time we were through the woods were quiet, not even a bird call, but today was a different story.
The trail was brimming with life! As we were arriving at the trail, Jim pointed out the bald eagle perched up in the tree. I managed to snag a shot of him before he took off. Once we got onto the trail, the snow was littered with rabbit and grouse tracks and also what looked very much like fox and coyote prints as well. There were chickadees flitting about and Jim almost coaxed them down to sit on his arm. He said if he had bird seed they very likely would have come down to eat out of his hand. Guess what we’re planning to pack next trip?
We came across a curious squirrel and a grouse allowed me to get REALLY close to take some more pictures. Unfortunately, my lens was fogged up so the pics aren’t terribly clear but I am amazed that I was allowed to get that close. It was a truly remarkable trek today!
What are you up to this lovely Saturday morning? I’d love to hear!

Your pictures are wonderful. Thank you for sharing them, I really enjoyed your walk.
Thank you Sandi!
Lovely pictures, though I have a hearthy dislike fo winter (and cold, and dark, even for snow :-/ )… As for this Saturday morning I had been at the university, in 20th century British history class…It is a mandatory class fo our curse, otherwise I would have avoided it, as I am not a fan of that era… I am willing to let the teacher convince me though.
I don’t mind Winter as long as I can get outside and play. At our house, we all get a little crazy feeling when I’m stuck indoors. lol
Best of luck with your British history class!
