My friend Jim and I took advantage of the snow day and and hit a couple of local trails for some hiking. First up was the Harvey More Wildlife Management Area Trail, which was a first for me.  The site is beautiful and a very enjoyable hike.  We even came across some beaver dams, one of which was not built in the water, but up on trail side (see the 4th picture from the top).  How interesting is that!

The second trail we decided to take was the red loop of the Beck Trail.  And boy, oh boy, was the trail icy today!  We did lots of slipping and sliding along but also got a lot of exploring in.  I really enjoy the myriad of interesting mushrooms and fungi along the trail, as well some pretty interesting trees frequented by woodpeckers.  We also came across a bright and spunky bird house which I just had to grab a shot of.    My camera’s lens did get a little foggy along the way (as you can tell from the last few pics) but that just add a little extra character to the photos (after all, don’t they have a filter for that in Instagram?).

We had so much fun today that we’re already planning next Sunday’s hike.  Can’t wait to get out and hit the trails again!

Thanks Rosa. The beaver dam is one of my favorite as well.
