FO Friday – Barndom

IMG_0006 IMG_0024 IMG_0025 IMG_9952 IMG_9999

I excited to finally be able to share some pictures of my Barndom shawl with you all.  It is a fun combination of garter stitch goodness, colorwork, and cabling and I highly recommend this pattern to anyone looking for a fun and striking shawl.

I did run into a couple of bumps along the way (late night knitting and keeping track of rows aren’t really friends at this house) and I ran out of blue yarn (I could have SWORN that I had another ball around here somewhere!) but all in all I’m really pleased with the results.  And the shawl is so squishy and cozy.  I love snuggling up in soft woolly things!

Have you been working on any big projects?  Have you finished something that you are particularly proud of?  I’d love to hear all about it!

Really great balance of coziness in the garter stitch but with a modern aesthetic. Love it.
My big project at the moment is designing a sweater for my daughter. I’m really enjoying how it’s turning out but picking up for the neck keeps causing me problems. Things to ponder…

Thanks khannings. Sounds like a really fun project you’ve got on the go! Good luck with picking up the neck line and I’d love to see pics when you’re finished the new sweater!

Gorgeous! I love the cabling here. And the color change at the bottom works perfectly.

Thanks so much Emily. Sometimes little flukes like running out of yarn create fun effects :-D

Love this shawl… I do not like garter stitch that much, I thought I had enough of it doing the color affection, but I might just do something else, like a Brandon, or a Daybreak… On your question…I finished an other owl ssweater, I am working on a Zoeey’s sweater (from IK) and just died up a bunch of wool to spin enough for a sweater…whort sleeved one, but still its gonna be an other long term project…
