I have a fun new shawl to show off to you all today … my handspun Daybreak.
I chose to knit the medium sized shawl from some really lovely handspun. The main color was spun up as singles from 4oz of Falkland wool in “Saffron” colorway by NorthboundKnitting and the cream color is a two ply in BFL from Spunky Eclectic.
The shawl is a wonderful combo of soft and fuzzy and silky and drapey all at once. I love how the center portion looks like growth rings on a tree!
Amazingly enough, this was the last WIP that I had sitting and waiting for me to finish. How crazy is that! So naturally, I’ve started working on a new project but you’ll need to check back later next week for the dirt on that one! lol
I’m off outside now because we’ve been blessed with a gorgeous, sunny Autumn day. Hope you all have a beautiful weekend and happy crafting!

love the colors, and it DOES look like the rings on a tree. Very pretty!
Wondering what you do with all you FOs? Do you gift them, keep them for yourself? just curious
Thanks so much! I gift a lot of my finished projects and keep a few of them. I try to keep quite a few FO on hand so that I’m prepared for birthdays and holidays
What a gorgeous fall colored shawl! I love it Simone
Thank you Tina! I couldn’t resist using some of our pumpkins in the shots just to show off the colors a bit.
Beautiful! I love the colour of the brown, it is so lovely and risch, and that gorgeous subtle graduation of colours.
Another handspun masterpiece!
Thank you! I love the depth to the brown as well. Brown is one of my favorite colors.
The Daybreak is BEAUTIFUL!! The colors are fantastic.
Thank you so much! I’m really in love with the saffron!
Very beautiful. do you knit with a lot of singles and do you have any tips on how to balane the twist?
Thank you Rosa. One of the things that I find most helpful when spinning for singles is to use my larger whorl. It puts a wee bit less twist in the single and, for me at least, seems to give me a singles that is closer to being balanced.
